Boeing Defence UK Ltd Selects SES to support Brimstone
Boeing Defence UK Limited have awarded SES a contract for the design and manufacture
of the Brimstone Launcher Interface Unit.
This is a compact, self-contained, rugged and very portable equipment, which is
used with a portable computer to programme the missile launchers. For SES this contract
award is an important starting point in the development of an ongoing relationship
with a key new customer.
The Brimstone launcher re-programmer is a critical task in the overall Brimstone
programme and SES have worked closely with Boeing to specify the key requirements
and to propose a creative solution, based upon a design suggestion made by Boeing.
SES took full advantage of available COTS components whilst still providing a tailored
solution that is bespoke to the application.
The Brimstone Advanced Anti-Armour Missile has been developed by MBDA with Boeing
Defence UK Ltd as the primary subcontractor, and is due to enter service with the
UK Ministry of Defence in 2004.
Boeing provides anti-armour missile system expertise, the missile subsystems (other
than the seeker), the new high-speed launcher and the missile/launcher integration.
Brimstone is an advanced fire and forget anti-armour, air-to-surface missile.
