Trident Win for SES
BAE SYSTEMS, Customer Solutions and Support has contracted SES to provide a replacement
Ship Data Simulator and Ship Motion Interface Unit for its Trident Shore Integration
Facility at Barrow-in-Furness. The equipment will provide simulation of information,
including attitude, speed and heading and distribute it to systems operating together
in co-ordinated trial scenarios. It can function in two modes, either controlled
from a dedicated external Scenario Generator system or under local control through
an MS Windows application as a stand-alone system.
The solution is based upon the SES S3DR-E product family and extends the application
of this system, previously used by BAE SYSTEMS in the Brunei Land based Integration
Facility and currently in use on the Astute Navigation System Non-Installed Trial
Simulation Environment. It includes a Compact PCI architecture and high spec Pentium
"M" processor with solid state data storage. Interfacing includes multiple
Synchro, Ethernet, RS422 and discrete digital channels to external systems.
The SES solution provides real-time stimulation of the Ships Data Distribution System
and is able to deliver coordinated stimulation of all simulated interfaces with
sub-millisecond accuracy.
Delivery of the equipment will be phased with completion scheduled for March 2005.
Nigel Rann, CS&S Project Manager commented, "We are pleased to award the
contract to SES following a proven track record for this capability on previous
projects."
