For Supply of the Tactical Data Unit and Data Transfer Unit for UK MoD’s Project Julius Chinook Helicopter’s Avionics Suite

CHARLOTTE, NC – 4th August, 2011 – Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced that it has received a contract from Thales UK to supply Boeing with the Tactical Data Unit and Data Transfer Unit for use in the Avionics Suite supplied for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) Project Julius Chinook Upgrade. The initial contract, which began in late 2009 and runs through 2013, is valued at $9 million.

“Curtiss-Wright is pleased to support Thales and its customer Boeing with our Tactical Data Unit and Data Transfer Unit technology for this important UK MoD upgrade program,” said David Adams, co-chief operating officer of Curtiss-Wright Corporation.

The Curtiss-Wright hardware includes a fully ruggedized, high-performance processing engine and high integrity 3D OpenGL graphics solution that will host Mission Planning and Moving Map software from Thales within a secure computing environment.

Curtiss-Wright’s Specialist Electronics Services business operation is developing and manufacturing the Tactical Data Unit and Data Transfer Unit at its Camberley, UK facility. The products are delivered to Thales UK’s Crawley facility, and then installed on the UK MoD’s fleet of Chinook helicopters.
